What is ExtraGive?

The ExtraGive is a community celebration of giving inspiring thousands of individual donations and shining a light on the work of our community benefit sector. Since 2012, our community has raised more than $100 Million for regional organizations.

ExtraGive provides the platform for Wheatland’s most important fundraising event of the year, and we are proud to be included in this community-wide giving opportunity.

​

Your gift will allow the Chorale to continue offering concerts of the highest caliber and will provide the organization with the capacity to undertake several new educational and outreach initiatives outlined in our new 3-year strategic plan.

About Wheatland Chorale

The Wheatland Chorale was founded in 1987 and regularly performs in the Lancaster area in December and April/May of each year. The current Artistic Director, David J. Fitzpatrick, is the third in the Chorale’s history.  

 

The Wheatland Chorale is focused on deepening our impact and relevance for the local community. We are dedicated to preserving Wheatland’s core mission to provide excellent choral music, while exploring new avenues for audience involvement. We recognize the critical importance of acknowledging a diversifying population in the communities we serve and we strive towards evolving the Chorale into an organization that explicitly welcomes that audience. 

 

Since 2023, the Chorale has seen tremendous growth in audience development, new membership, and giving. The Chorale has begun the second year of our 3-year strategic plan as we continue to expand the Chorale’s reach and keep the organization vital and relevant for years to come. 

 

A lot of exciting things have occurred the past year. We created the Wheatland Chorale Festival Singers, which welcome 90 singers from our community to perform with Lancaster’s Allegro Orchestra in the first collaboration of these two organizations. We underwent a complete rebranding of our organization to better align with our vision. In order for us to continue our growth, this season we hired a Marketing and Operations Manger, the first non-music staff member in the history of the organization.

 

We are excited to launch a three-year engagement of local composer Tina Davidson, who will serve as composer in residence and will produce a commissioned work for the Chorale at the end of her tenure, featuring the experience of refugees in Lancaster. In addition to our normal concerts, we will be performing with the Mennonite Children's Choir of Lancaster. This will be the first time these local organizations have collaborated together. 

 

Your gift to the Wheatland Chorale allows us to continue to provide inspiring musical experiences for our community. It will also allow us to continue to grow and create new initiatives and collaborations within our area. As we launch the composer-in-residence project, your gift will go even further in reaching new audiences and helping us to elevate voices in the local community that often go unheard.
