Wheatland Chorale Collaborative Accompanist Position
Overview:
The Wheatland Chorale, one of the area’s premiere choral ensembles, seeks a collaborative accompanist to begin in September 2025. The accompanist is a member of the artistic staff and works in collaboration with the Artistic and Associate Directors.
Roles and Responsibilities

Serve as principal accompanist for all rehearsals of the Wheatland Chorale and the Wheatland Chorale Festival Singers on Monday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 pm in Lancaster generally from September - April.

Serve as principal accompanist for all concerts, typically held in December and in April. Occasional concerts are added outside of our subscription concerts.

Assist in rehearsals and sectionals when needed.
Qualifications and Skill Set

Ideally, a bachelors and/or masters degree in music

Advanced accompaniment and soloist skills on the piano

Solid proficiency in open score and ability to play multiple parts at once

Advanced sight-reading skills

Organ skills preferred but not required

Understanding of the role of the collaborative accompanist in rehearsal and performance

Proven collaborator and ability to work with artistic staff, board, and singers
Compensation
A 1099 position, the Accompanist will be paid a professional fee for services of $5,000 annually in 4 installments in September, December, February, and April.

*If available, the candidate could start April 28, 2025, for our Wheatland Chorale Festival Singers rehearsals of the Brahms Requiem. Festival Singer rehearsal schedule and concert dates are provided on the Wheatland Chorale website. The availability for the Festival singers will have no bearing on the decision for the larger position.
